Ethel Mae (Paul) Perrier

Ethel Mae Paul Perrier, 66, of Lebanon, died at her home on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 7, 1946, in Caribou, Maine, to the late J. Frank and Hazel (Finnemore) Paul. After spending her childhood in Portland, Maine, her family moved to Lebanon when she was a sophomore in high school. Ethel graduated from Lebanon High School in 1964 and began work at Dartmouth National Bank in Hanover. She also later worked at Art Bennett's Ski Shop in Hanover. She married Daniel Perrier in September 1964 and together they raised two children. A born-again Christian, Ethel was an active member of the West Lebanon Baptist Church for many years. She served her Lord on the Deaconess Committee, as a regular church greeter, and as a volunteer in the church nursery. Ethel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother--she loved and took great joy in attending all of her grandchildren's school functions, sporting events, and music and theater productions. Her grandchildren were always welcomed with open arms, a warm hug, and delicious homemade goodies. She was an avid teddy bear collector and talented scrapbooker--lovingly preserving family memories. Ethel always made holidays and birthdays extra special for family and friends with her thoughtful touches. Christmas and Easter were her favorite holidays because of her strong faith and what these holidays represent. Ethel formed very strong and lasting friendships during her life, including a group of high school friends that remain close to this day--still meeting weekly for coffee and lively conversation. She also enjoyed the many vacations that she took with her husband to Florida, Pennsylvania, Cape Cod, and the Maine seacoast. Ethel's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Bayada Hospice organization, and especially Kate Lynch, for the loving care they provided to Ethel and her family in her final days. Ethel was predeceased by her parents and two older brothers, Waldo and Richard Paul. Survivors include her loving husband, Dan; son Daniel Perrier and his wife Laura, of Enfield, NH; daughter, Kelly Taylor and her husband, Jim, of Meriden, NH; and her five grandchildren Caitlin Perrier, Tim Perrier, Doug Taylor, Andy Taylor, and Matt Taylor. In addition, Ethel is survived by her brothers Roy Paul of Austin, Arkansas, and Robert Paul of Bath, Maine. Also, sisters-in-law Chris Paul of Lebanon; Greta Paul of Sanford, Florida; Dorothy Paul of Bath, Maine; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, May 25. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 12 noon at West Lebanon Baptist Church on Seminary Hill. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Ethel's name to the West Lebanon Baptist Church Building Fund, 114 Seminary Hill, West Lebanon, NH 03784. Arrangements are by Ricker Funeral Homes & Crematory of Lebanon.
